The MCM LIVE EVENT on February 23 was a huge success.

On February 23, 2024, Pwani University was alive with anticipation as over 150 people, including more than 75 enthusiastic students, convened for the MCM LIVE EVENT, creating an atmosphere filled with energy and excitement. This occasion served as a platform for interested students to delve into the world of technical communication.

We're back!

On Monday, January 15th 2024, we officially commenced the second semester. Building upon the foundation laid in the first semester, there are exciting modules ahead, including Communication and Media ǁ, Project Management and Entrepreneurship, and different language options. These modules are intricately crafted to deepen understanding and enhance the skill set of our students. We are eager and prepared to guide them through this dynamic learning experience. To all our students, welcome back! We’re ready for an inspiring and productive semester!

Open-Day

We look back on a successful Open-Day that took place on September 21st 2023. So many interested students came to check out the new Masters in Communication and Media.

The turnout of enthusiastic students eager to explore the new Masters in Communication and Media was truly remarkable. It was a pleasure to connect with each and every one of you, engaging in insightful conversations and exchanging ideas about the exciting curriculum of this program.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to showcase our program and connect with such a diverse and talented group of individuals. Your presence and active participation made the morning truly special. We hope that you found the Open-Day informative and inspiring!

MCM is kicked-off!

We are thrilled to announce that the first semester of MCM has kicked off on Monday. We have a group of 8 students who have embarked on their journey in the exciting field of Communication and Media by enrolling in our new degree program Master of Communication and Media.

The first day was filled with warmth and enthusiasm as we warmly welcomed our new students. We are excited to have them join our academic community. The initial courses have already taken place, including an introduction to Communication and Media, German basics, and a video course.

Start of the official Masters Programme in Communication and Media

After a successful pilot project, the official Masters Programme will start in September 2023. The two-semester pilot project, called Special Courses in Communication and Media, was running from September 2022 until March 2023. These courses showed an outline of modules and content the Masters Programme will provide.

The official start for the Masters in Communication and Media is planned for the first semester of the academic year 2023/2024 starting in September.

Communication and Media Live Event

Published April 13th 2023

On March 2nd 2023, the project team hosted a big live event on campus at Pwani University, Kilifi.The event was attended by more than 100 people, including representatives of Pwani University, the project team as well as more than 50 interested students. The main purpose was to inform prospective students, introduce the team, staff and programme and set a platform to get in touch and ask questions.

We Are Back!

The second semester of Special Courses officially started on Monday, January 16th with an introduction to Software Documentation, a huge part of the career field of Technical Communication. The session was held by Project Lead Prof. Sissi Closs and Guest Lecturer Adaeze Chime, Software Documentation Senior Consultant and certified Technical Communicator in Nigeria.

The second semester will feature two modules, Media and Communication II and German for Communication. See the Courses and Content page for more detail

It’s a wrap! First semester of the Special Courses in Communication and Media Pwani University successfully completed

To conclude the successful first semester, a virtual wrap-up event took place on November 29th in the framework of the MCM project. MCM is a project from the University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe (HKA) from Germany in cooperation with Pwani University (PU) Kilifi in Kenya, which is sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Big Kick-off event in September 2022

On September 22, 2022, a big Kick-Off Event took place at Pwani University. The programme started with an official welcome by representatives of Pwani University, including Edith Miano, Dr. Elizabeth Munyaya, Prof. Yakobo Mutiti, Dr. Rukiya Swaleh, Dr. Nancy Ngowa and the project leader Prof. Sissi Closs from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.

The following presentations focused on the field of technical communication, described career perspectives, the development of the discipline on the global labour market, and the importance of the new study programme for Pwani University. The event was attended by representatives of Pwani University, the project team and the students of the new courses, as well as more than 60 interested Bachelor students.
